Let's see... various things that I haven't been talking about here:

* I got the crown put on my dental implant on Wednesday, which makes it a fully-working tooth. Which means I'm rediscovering chewing on the left side of my face -- kind of got out of the habit because in dental terms the remaining teeth there were unoccluded. It's quit feeling weird against my tongue, anyway -- my goodness, it's strange to have a 'new tooth' at my age.

* Vericon is this weekend! Yeah, I hadn't heard of it either, but the Harvard Radcliffe Science Fiction Association has its own small con, in a college hall, this weekend. For $25, it's a modest enough price, and several friends of mine are on the program, so I'll go wandering by tonight after work and listen in on the two panels. And so on, tomorrow. I'll actually probably spend more time at this con than at Arisia, but then we don't have a Killer! Blizzard! bearing down on us this weekend, either.

* I still haven't gotten around to excavating my car, which is at least protected by a large berm of snow from other cars possibly skidding down the hill. (Just because this has never happened yet....) We're supposed to finally climb above freezing on Sunday, at least for a while. If I wait for it to melt out... well, I'd better start shoveling. Soon.

* I ran across the best little gadgets, at least for certain purposes in my life -- Yaktrax, which are little rubbery traction devices for your shoes, sort of like snow chains. But like those, you don't want to walk on them except on snow & ice. So for a lot of people, not so good, but for me, when I have to walk my 1.5 miles through unplowed back streets and unshovelled sidewalks, they will be damn near perfect. Plus, they go on and come off quite easily and -- at least during this morning's walk -- stay on quite well.

Having had to stand around in the cold waiting for the damn buses far too much this week -- when walking wasn't an option because of the poor conditions -- this will be damn useful. And I can pop them off and put them in my bag if they aren't needed. Coolness.

* Also, picked up a pedometer -- in fact, that was why I went down to the sporting goods store in my building. I'm consumed with the need to know how much I actually walk. I bet I'm actually coming close to the 10K steps that is recommended. If not... I bet I can up my total. I just have to figure out what my "average stride" really is.

* Have I mentioned that I'm actually writing a due South story, just for a change of pace? It's mostly resisting being slashy at all, but then when Dief, Ante, a hairless cat named Binky and Ray's turtle all have speaking roles, I suppose that's a blessing, sort of.

* I caught my roommate reading my Duet zines. ::looks dubious:: She will read anything. She hasn't had much interest in reading anything that I've written... I'm not even sure she's noticed that I've written a bunch of fanfic lately. Now my imagination is busy constructing scenarios where she stumbles across the Body Swap or whatever. Eeek, or something like it.

OK... off to the con! Yay!
