So, the cold hit as threatened. I got all duded up for work, and realized that my left eye was starting to tear up, even with the heavy-duty decongestant, so I called in sick to my boss's boss's phone mail (and I'm not even sure if he's in this week), my boss being out on vacation until after New Year's.
I made two expeditions Out -- one to get some donuts and a paper, which is a two block walk from here, actually my eyes and nose did better in the cold than I expected. The other was back over to the Emergency Room, but for a more benign reason -- I managed to pour out most of the liquid ear antibiotic on my bed when applying the noon dose. You know how decongestants have warnings about not operating heavy machinery? Should have added a warning for holding small bottles upright as well, I guess. I know I must be out of it if I can do something as stupid as turning my hand over when I'm holding an open bottle....
More proof that I was out of it -- I watched most of the 1976 King Kong -- in real time (not pre-recorded on the TiVo). However, AMC has started showing commercials so there was wiggle-room to get up for snacks and to check on the cats et cetera. It was baaaad but interesting as a period piece. Also, Jeff Bridges is unexpected cute as a long-haired and bearded stowaway paleontologist.
Later, more myself, I watched most of the two hour "Serenity" original pilot from Firefly. I wish I could say that I felt better, but overall things are pretty miserable.
Haven't seen much of Yum Yum today, what with being down in the living room watching the TV -- I checked on her (she's camping out in a box in the closet, so if I push the doors over to the other side, and push back a couple of coats I can reach her) a couple of times but if she doesn't want to come out -- and looks good when she does -- I'm not going to force her. I expect it's the antibiotic catching up with her.
