slogathon part 2
Feb. 28th, 2003 07:36 amI think it was because I posted about not sleeping, that I had a really bad night of it on Wednesday/early Thursday. I mean, I laid me down by 11:30, but at 1 I was still more or less awake, and aching. I went downstairs and watched some TV, and then took a shower -- that's my last ditch recourse -- and then got back into a cozy warm bed with my hair wrapped up in a big towel, which finally did some good.
Though I had to wake up extra-special early because we were having a departmental "Town Meeting" at 9:30 AM that we were heavily "hinted" that we should all attend. It didn't turn out to be anything horribly dramatic like announcing there would be layoffs, it was just the COO there to explain to us what the sale of our company to an investment group really means, both good and bad. She's very smooth. She mentioned that at the raising-capital road show for investors, our company got to look like a gem among the debris, since the other companies along for the ride were The National Enquirer and a bunch of nearly bankrupt companies on their last legs, so a major publishing company, in business since 1832 and with some very solid financial/market assets.
I managed to get through the day with the help of caffeine and will-power. Last night wasn't all that bad for sleep, so maybe I'll be OK today -- waking up with a major sinus headache is so not the way to start the day....
