April 26th -- Burst!

I thought, therefore I twittered:

I left the bedroom window cracked all night, woke up to a fresh breeze on my face. And two hungry cats climbing on me -- door was open too!

Good words from the OSV expedition: croze & cresset. Bragging rights to whoever guesses right what historical activity they're used in!

I promise a No-Prize to whoever guesses.

Does this surprise anyone? But there's some subtle effects that we may not be taking into account.

I rocked the polymorphism homework -- go team Me!

Hey, this looms large in my little world, but seriously, I went above and beyond the assignment in ways that the teacher really liked. What's the biggest pleasure in this is that I'm ready to honestly (not honestly-adjacent) say in a job interview that I 'get' polymorphism, when I can take a lab description and work out the structure and methods necessary to make it work and clearly understand the whole thing. Yep. So ready for a job, already....

...has discovered that in C#, it really is 'objects all the way down.'

Do we all know the old joke about the lady whose cosmology involved the Flat Earth sitting on the back of a turtle? Which was supported by another turtle, which was supported by another -- turtles, all the way down. In C#, everything is actually base class 'Object'. Which is not only cool, it gives a handle to understand why much of it works the way it does. Cool!

Had an unexpected side trip to Haverhill to rescue a friend with car trouble, but it was a darn nice day to do it in. Time to sit outside!

Now out on the patio chair, loving the breeze and the sound of chirping birds, faint church bells and the yells of distant children.

73 before 6 AM? Did we go directly into Summer?

No, seriously -- It's not been so much Spring as it has been Burst. There are bees and wasps and small flying things and barking squirrels (the maple trees in my backyard are hotly desired territory)a and several thousand maple seedlings shooting up. If anyone wants me, I'll be out on the patio, dancing barefoot, drunk on it all.

I have a bunch of OSV pictures, so I should get them Flickr'd soon!

Here's a great way to make permalinks for NY Times articles: the New York Times Link Generator (http://nytimes.blogspace.com/genlink). Also, I like the way TinyURL (http://tinyurl.com) gives you a chance to see the link before going to it.

Ooh, I didn't know that.

I've been using HootSuite's Ow.lys for making Tweet links, which lets me check up on whether any of them get clicked. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a good enough number that I post here and elsewhere do get followed up on.

Hmm... I thought a cresset was a torch, but croze sounds like crozier, which I think is a shepherd's crook....

You're on the right track with both of them, and will be the prize winner tomorrow if no one else comes forward...!
