Jan 20 -- Inaugurururation Day

From my current Twitter stream:

  • 08:38 Watching: Claymation -- How wedding cakes really happen! tinyurl.com/4d23rw//s.ytimg.com/yt/swf/cps-vfl73532.swf&video_id=NDhHxIz ... #
  • 08:40 I may eventually get really excited that it's I-Day, but I think I'll need some breakfast first. #
  • 13:15 gave in and watched some Inauguration anyway. Especially the bit where Bush flew AWAY #
  • 19:44 Did a search and destroy on the grocery store tonight, mostly avoiding perishables since I'll be leaving Thursday! #
  • 22:34 Obama -- great president or greatest ever? (OK, we've got a ways to go before rendering that judgment, but off to a great start, yes?) #
  • 06:45 Looking at: Chrome Cow ยป US Democracy Server: Patch Day tinyurl.com/94pvc7 #

Considering how many times I've thought forward to this day for so many years now, you'd think I'd have been even more excited, but instead I was mostly trying to figure out what I can get done in the time remaining before I head back to PA for some more Mom-wrangling. (Which, thank goodness is mostly light duty at this point while she mends.)

Still, it was a grand day for the US and perhaps the planet, too. Whatever Obama's political stance, he's a genuine leader, who can get us all lined up and pointed in a mutual direction and that's what's needed most at this point, because there's a huge psychological factor involved in a fiscal depression, beyond the financial realities.

And what the US in particular needed -- a Constitutional scholar elected Pres. to help undo the damage done to our rights and moral standing in law and justice.

Anyway, I'm damn glad to wake up today and know this is the first day of the next four years.
