And the verdict... Kidney Stone!
This is mostly for
readsalot who stayed with me for 3 hours in the ER before she reluctantly went home because she has work tomorrow, and I was doing just fine by then, so that she sees this first thing:
I'm home and feeling much better still -- even better because we have a happy-making diagnosis. Happy because it's a condition that passes, that's easily fixed without major and nasty and expensive procedures, and all that. I was in MAJOR pain when I went there (and I've got a high pain threshold, too) so it feels like a miracle cure, believe you me.
I do have to follow up with my PCP, so there may yet be special dietary cat food in my future, or whatever it is they do for humans. (I'm wondering if the mild dehydration I had last week with the stomach flu somehow set this off.)
All things considered I was ready to dance my way out to the street, and tipped the cabby extra when he got me home. This is really one of the better ways that an ER visit can end.

Still, I owe you an evening. You helped make the time pass way more quickly and more reassuring, too, which is a real gift.
