50 Books in 2007

Finished #9 in record time, helped by some long commutes and whatnot. Much to my surprise it rises to heights of fairly-earned near-Shakespearean tragedy. Truly, this book is the bastard offspring of Jane Austen and Dashiell Hammett. Now I have to find and reread the sequel.

And perusing my shelves in case I did have Castle in the Air turned up a Diana Wynne Jones book that I evidently haven't read! How the hell did that happen?

(It's The Merlin Conspiracy, btw, in trade paperback. No idea when I acquired it, but evidently it's been sitting on my messy shelves for quite some time, as it's a 2003 book.)

For those playing at home, the roll call of my results so far:

9. Point of Honour, Madeline Robins
8. Howl's Moving Castle, Diana Wynne Jones
7. The Language of Power, Rosemary Kirstein
6. Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why, Laurence Gonzales
5. The Planets, Dava Sobel
4. The Nanny Diaries
3. Maskerade, Terry Pratchett
2. Tyrannosaur Canyon, Douglas Preston
1. The Garden of Iden, Kage Baker

I just love those Regency detective novels by Madelein Robins.

BTW, "The Merlin Conspiracy" is a quasi-sequel to "Deep Secret".

I loved The Merlin Conspiracy, too, and wish it had been around when I was fourteen, as it would have become my favorite book *evah*. :-)
