Cumulative Stats DS Challenges 1&2

Just the facts, ma'am... after two challenges, it's time for some total length statistics, right?

Note that this information isn't offered in anything but the spirit of objective wonder. The challenges aren't a competition to see who can write the most (or least) words, they are a way to offer interesting writing to other fans....

I note that the top ten authors for total length make up 51% of the total wordage in the challenge so far. It's also becoming swiftly apparent who might have a favorite length, or like [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw, really have the drabble form down pat.

Particularly prolific status goes to JennyBee and cmshaw, with four stories apiece, and three apiece for DracoStella, doll_revolution, jodie_mouse, and Countess.

Length and Average

Total wordage for the two challenges: 34,770 in 68 stories.
Shortest story: 58 words, "Untitled" by laura jv, Makeup Challenge
Longest story: 1554 words, "Target" by Cesperanza, Makeup Challenge
Average length for the two challenges: 511.32

Note: there was four stories over 1K, and a very impressive 8 for "perfect" one-hundred-word drabbles. (There may be two more, depending if the author uses a different counting scheme than I do.)

Rating

NC-17: 21
R: 23
PG: 24

I'm scratching my head too -- wouldn't have expected this many PG stories at all, but that's what the accumulated total says, 8 for Voyeurism and 16 for Makeup.

Wouldn't have thought that Turnbull would turn out to be such a popular viewpoint character, relatively speaking.

Broken out by viewpoint choice, Fraser is still in the lead, though not by as much as you might expect. Overall, there were 19 1st-person stories, and 51 3rd-person (this does not add up to 68 because two stories had viewpoint shifts).

F/K the big, runaway favorite so far. But what is surprising to me, is the popularity of slashing Kowalski with anything that moves....

Oh, I do love obsessive number crunching. *g*

I hope you're going to carry on with this, though, because I'm pretty sure the averages aren't going to hold up over time. My own eight stories, for example, are now averaging something like 660 words each (and the ratings are all over the place: everything from G to NC-17)

Do not know why this fascinates me so, but it does, so,yay! and yes, please continue if you so desire.

As for why we slash Kowalski with practically anything from the mailman to a banana, well...
