DS Flashfiction Stats II (Makeup)

For my own edification, I'm slowly going through the postings in ds_flashfiction and databasing stats about the stories that appeared therein -- see the previous entry if you want to know the stats for the first challenge, this will cover stats for the second challenge ("Makeup" 4/21-4/28).


Same rules for this one -- my subjective judgement on pairing, POV, rating, using the Word word count feature if the author didn't supply a page count.

So on with the stats for Challenge #2, Makeup--

Length

Average Length: 459.23 Shortest Story: 58 words -- "Untitled" by laura jv Longest Story: 1554 words -- "Target" by Cesperanza Total wordage for 39 stories: 17,910 words

Note: there was three stories over 1K, including one by yours truly.

Rating

NC-17: 10 R: 13 PG: 16

Even more PGs this time, perhaps because with the "Makeup" stories that relied on the cosmetics aspect of the term, there were a lot more opportunities for non-PWP?

Point of View

3rd-Fraser - (11) 3rd-Kowalski - (11) 3rd-Vecchio - (5) 1st-Fraser - (4) 1st-Kowalski - (4) 3rd-Stella - (2) 3rd-Francesca - (1) 3rd-Omniscient - (1)

3rd person is the clear winner in this challenge, with only 8 stories told from first person.

Pairing by Frequency

F/K - (21) None - (6) K/Stella - (4) K/V - (4) F/Frannie - (2) K/Other - (2)

F/K is still the most popular. The big surprises are the relative popularity of stories dealing with non-paired situations, not to mention Stella and Frannie showing up repeatedly.
