The Amazing Adventures of Two Chicago Teens In Love....
I should be packing frantically -- and in a few minutes I'll get back to that, oh yes, but I had to get on here and make a quick entry or I'll burst.
I got a note from
akite who like me is a frequent participant in the
ds_flashfiction challenges, saying that she liked my story ("Fairy Tales"), and was I aware of the similar story she'd written that had gone in a very different direction?
Well, actually no, but "eeek!" just the same. I may very well have been subconsciously influenced by it -- I didn't recall reading it, but having gone to see her story, I do recognize it. (I'm notorious at work for only being able to recall maybe two weeks into the past -- I'm like that Memento guy, only with a little more fade time.) I really do believe it influenced me, though thankfully, I went enough in another direction that it's more of a thematic reaction than an homage.
(Sort of an "Annie Had a Baby"/"Work With Me, Annie" relationship for those familiar with 1950s R'n'B songs, which is an unaccountably neglected area of study.... Why I can remember those, and not a story that I read back at the beginning of May.... ::sound of Theodosia head-thunking her desk::)
Anyway, if you read my story (and you did, didn't you? ::big pleading puppylike eyes::), you should definitely read A.Kite's "Home Alone", which I really recommend.
Now it's back to packing!

Sorry... delayed response!
The story you asked about is actually referenced in the above intro -- it's the "Fairy Tales" link in the body. Or you can just click on my LJ and go back about four or five entries!
Hope you enjoy it!
