My Even Newer Toy

Since buying The New Car, I've been hit with an urge to buy things. No, seriously, spending all that money makes much more piddling ($50... $100, even $200) amounts seem... piddling. You know as in "Why that only costs 1% of all I spent on the car." I come from a long line of cheap people, so this urge to spend seems rather foreign and suspect to me.

I thought I'd gotten all my urges for New Stuff out this summer. I got a new cellphone, an iPod, even a new stove. The other week, I even bought a Calphalon saucepan to sit atop of it, which is like the prettiest thing evah.

But there was one thing missing: my Palm Zire, which went missing lo these many months ago. I've been limping along with an old M125, which is black and white and very primitive.

So, as a reward for myself hitting a couple of personal milestones, I went to the Palm website and ordered myself an open box (i.e. returned & reconditioned) Palm Zire 72s, which is the souped up version of the 71 I had -- much more memory and storage, much faster response to everything, a markedly better camera (and it will take movies!!! silent, I think, but even so!!!) and all that a slightly tech-obsessed nerd like me could want to play with.

Tortoise & Hare

In Copley Square around the corner from my place of employment. This is very near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, thus the subject matter.

Note also that the tortoise has sweatbands on. Recently many of the public statues in Boston got adorned with footwear as an art project to promote walking. I'm not sure how promotey it was, but it sure is funny.

Hee! Too cute. And you deserve another treat.

Heee! That's adorable.

*snickers*

I've had that same thing, since spending all the money on the wedding (which, not as much as a car, but all at once, meh). Things that used to seem outrageously expensive no longer do.

Just wait until you buy a house (or condo) -- your entire fiscal sensibilities will be overthrown and rejiggered. :-)

(I have yet to wake up in a cold sweat realizing =that I owe over 100,000 dollars= so I guess the rejiggering worked.)

sweatbands! that's so cute. :> he needs to be wearing one on his head, and have an ipod attached to his arm.

Cute! Reminds me of the bronze Testudo the Terrapin Turtle on the University of Maryland campus. Legend has it that if you rub his nose before an exam, you'll pass it....

One of the nicest benefits of my job is the location, which is pretty and interesting and historical, and yet also very public-transportation adjacent. :-)

Nice picture, and yay for new toys. And yes, Calphalon pans are very pretty, and the ones I have are also heavy enough to make good blunt weapons, just in case. :)

Man o man do I know the spendy urge. It hits me from time to time. So far I have resisted. But...

On the subject of pictures. I can never get enough of them. Thanks!
