Photo Journey

A few (lousy cellphone) pictures of my trip this weekend, with commentary.

Oh, yeah, I made it back to Somerville intact, tired as all hell. But I did stop in Sturbridge for two brief hours where I wandered around OSV and felt quiet and unstressed, which I figured was the functional equivalent of a yoga class, minus the sweating.

My ambition to be an OSV volunteer has returned full-blown. Also, they are going to be having a Textile Weekend on November 5th and 6th, for those who might be interested -- mostly quilting and embroidery, I believe.

My Niece

This is Caroline, who cheerfully mined the piles o' stuff for all the cool things she could find. I need to knit her a princess scarf and some stuff for her Barbies....

Dumpster

Here is the dumpster, on its way to being 3/4s full. It was lucky that I discerned that there was a back gate that could be opened, as my brother was inclined to try pitching everything over the sides....

Couch

This is the Castro Convertible couch that I want to move up to my house. The color isn't right in this picture -- it's really an attractive dark gold... and that fabric really is hanging in there, no?

OSV

The steeple of the meetinghouse rises above the autumn trees. I was up on the pasture hillside off of the new nature walk section of the museum grounds. Such a pretty day, almost made up for all the damp parts of the trail from the recent monsooning

Flood!

Here's the Ct. Willimantic River, shot from the back deck of a rest stop off of I-84. The information attendant said that normally it is less than 20 feet wide here. Suddenly we're all aware of where the really low-lying areas of each town are....

Nope, it's crushed velvet that's as soft as it looks. If I manage to get it up here, you will get a chance to experience it for yourself....
