I'm flying in and out of the house right now, as I've got to run off to join [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_no_bara and [livejournal.com profile] farwing at a screening of Serenity. As I expected picking up the car at the dealership took f o r e v e r... but at the end there was a spiffy new shiny car, which is clean clean clean.

I also managed to ding a woman's brand new car (she was also picking it up) with the door of my cardealerphobia's car, which was entirely a freak accident -- I just opened it, and it sprang out wider than I thought -- unfortunately at just the right angle! So they're going to have their dealership dingmeister (say that five times fast) look at it next Wednesday.

Aside from the freak accident, I got an entire orientation to every single device and compartment on my new car, which was kind of surprising to me. I've only ever bought used cars before this... which was pretty much having the keys tossed in my general direction when I'd signed the dotted line.

Then I got caught in the traffic jam on Rt 2 going into Cambridge on my way home, since I got away at exactly the wrong time. And here I am, I need to change some clothes and get on my way. With any luck I should be able to hook up with friends and have a fitting ending for a Red Letter Day.

The one time I bought a new car, they just tossed the keys in my direction. Sounds like you found a good dealer.

Yay for new car! (and eek for the ding.) Yes, I've gotten the orientation before--sometimes it's useful, and sometimes I'm like, "yes, I really can figure out how to turn on the windshield wipers for myself." [livejournal.com profile] whc, maybe they're more likely to do that for women than for men?
