The Amazing Race

Yeah, it started up on Tuesday... here are some thoughts about it, for the few still following it.....

The Bronxer Mom was really pissing me off last night. And I expected more to come from their dropping the clue!!!! Did they have to go back for it?

I didn't expect to like the Connecticut marathoning family with the two kids quite so much. They were damn strong and had good healthy attitudes about both racing/competition and family interaction.

Also liked The Aiello family -- I think it was, the father and three sons-in-law -- as well as the Black family. Both were not only likeable but had the feel of successful relationships.

As for strategy... always, always get your hands on a good map as early as possible, even if you have to take extra time to do it. Missing your destination will lose you a lot more time....

Nope, one of the sons actually *remembered* what the clue said. A risky move, but he called it when he said they were screwed if they went back.

I was sorry the Cinci family did so poorly (the three brothers and the sister). I really kind of liked them, I think because the family dynamic seemed really familiar.

I liked the Black family as well, but I didn't get the idea that they were really prepared for the race. They really floundered in the rowing, and didn't seem to get that they (the parents) really needed to put out some extra effort in challeges like that.

Oh, but the clues and the challenges - so nice to see them making people figure their own way around rather than giving them detailed point A to point B instructions.
