Knit Me Kangaroo Down

I alluded last night to the Oxenberg Lace-type scarf I'm starting in on. Since knitting a test version worked so well for me with the lacy black mohair scarf, I'm trying it with this complicated pattern first.

Here is a view of all that I've done so far. The bottom edging is knit first, then you turn the right corner, pick up stitches across the bottom, turn the other corner, then start into the main body. This is about the first 15 rows of the first 16 pattern repeat.

Note the short-row turn in the edging. This is thick yarn compared to the intended material, but that makes it easier for me to figure out how the pattern works.

This is the same yarn I used for the sweater back in July (was it only July? yes!) so it's Cotton-Ease. When I visited Aviatrix18 last Saturday, I came back loaded down with more yarn, including some beautiful mohair that should make up into a gorgeous scarf, I'm hoping about half the size of this one.

Very purty scarf!

And now I'm going to have Mission of Burma on the brain. :-)

It looks wonderful to me. I tried to knit lace last year and had a horrid time; ended up ripping it out and putting the yarn aside until I was more sane or found a better pattern.

That is looking lovely!

And now I am going to have that song in my head for the rest of the day. Thank you? *BG*

But-but--where's the kangarooooo?

That looks very nicely done. Complicated, of the sort of complicated that makes my head hurt, but which I appreciate when other people do it.

But kangaroos don't have down! Ducks have down! (I'm down with ducks!)

The scarf-in-progress is lovely.
