still a tiny aargh
I spent the afternoon at work, which was work-ish and actually kind of busy, which on reflection is a good thing, because it kept me from dwelling too much on oh my gawd my poor little car, etc.. After I finished posting about it here, I realized exactly how much upset I really was.
Which you know, by the standards of, say, Hurricane Katrina, having your car stolen but found mostly intact is small potatoes. I made myself hark back to my real estate lawyer's advice, that problems divide up into ones that can be solved by money, and ones that can't -- and the ones that can't are the really important ones. So this is a problem that money will make go away, one way or the other. Either the insurance will pay to repair it as necessary, or being an older car, they may well 'total' it and give me a cash settlement -- and then I'll have to see about getting another car....
Well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, there's no point in tying myself in knots over what I don't know yet. Still, so strange to go to bed having a car, and then to walk out and notice there's a different car parked in the space where you left yours -- right in front of your house -- is a strange icky feeling indeed.
Because with all the shenanigans I had to go into work late, I stayed a bit later than normal, which meant I didn't get home until nearly 7. I'd intended to go to yoga tonight, especially because the Stress is pretty high, but that meant I had about ten minutes to have a snack, get dressed, and then race a mile or so to the yoga studio on foot, whence I could then spend the next 75 minutes working so hard that I will literally be dripping sweat.
So I let myself skip this time. Tomorrow night there's another Basics class, so maybe I can hit that one instead, provided I get a good night's rest....
In other news, I've started knitting a test version of an Orenburg lace-knit scarf, only this is in a nicely thick cotton yarn with #10 needles -- a big enough gauge that I can see what stitches go where and get used to the rhythm of the pattern, which has an intricate border which wraps around the body with short rows on the corners. I may not have gone to yoga tonight, but I managed to get some stress-reduction from the knitting.
Oh, and the car won't even be seen by the claims adjuster until Monday. ::screams:: I will just have to learn patience, right? And cultivate more healthy walking..,.

I divide between solvable by money, solvable by money that I have or potentially can hand, and can't. It helps me differentiate between what can be affected and what can't, for whatever reason.
I am so sorry to hear about your car. I have had this happen twice and it has been a hit to the gut each time.
I hope that things work out easily for you.

I hope things go okay - and if you need anything give us a call. We'd be happy to lend you a hand or I'd loan you my car if need be.
