That Fandom Meme
Because
daughtershade and
misspamela told me to, sort of:
1. Fandoms I like:
To write:
I've only ever written in depth in two fandoms, Due South and X-Men (technically New Mutants), but I've dabbled with Buffy/Angel and a handful of others. It's not so much what I want to write as what I can write, the Muse doesn't wake up much for me. Which is just as well, because when she does, it can be the work of years....
To read:
Due South is by far and away my biggest written fanfiction fandom. I'm loving the bits of Stargate Atlantis I'm coming across, I've read and enjoyed the stories of friends who write Harry Potter and Buffy and Angel and Stargate SG-1, but I'm rarely inspired to read other writers in those fandoms. By and large, if I like the original canon, I'm content to stay with it.
The next breakout writing fandom for me could well be Atlantis, but I'm really wanting more to concentrate on my original fiction characters.
Want to read:
I'd walk over coals to read more new Terry Pratchett or Lois McMaster Bujold or Barbara Hambly. In the meantime, I'll watch and wait for more good chewy Atlantis and Due South.
2. First Fandom
I started writing X-Men fanfic back around 1985, for an APA that had maybe 35 participants. After around 20 years, I can say that I've gotten better, but then I start wondering why I haven't gotten really good....
3. Most recent fandom
Atlantis. And have recently am working my way through Twitch City once again.
4. Five fandoms that mean a lot to me
* Due South
* Buffy/Angel
* Atlantis/SG-1
* X-Men
* Twitch City
There's a lot bubbling up under the top Five -- Lost, Homicide, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Hard Core Logo, Dead Like Me, Six Feet Under, Battlestar Galactica. (None of these are necessarily slashy at all for me.)
5. Number five on the meme is to tag others
Hmmm, I'll fill this out because there are people on my FList who don't get enough shout-outs, like
sfmarty and
arliss and
akite and
theamusedone and
susano... but really, anybody reading this is welcome to run through the questions, I'll be happy and interested to read it.
