Mixed-up Media

I had an unexpectedly media-intensive weekend...

* Friday night with [livejournal.com profile] farwing and [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_no_bara at my house, watching the Stargates and Battlewagon Hysterica.
Okay, so this was expected, but still nice.

I got a whole lot added to the chunky ripple afghan, like doubling it in size from the last picture with Muppet sitting under it.

* Saturday, ended up visiting with [livejournal.com profile] vwbug who was feeling a bit under the weather and needed some company to cheer her up. We crocheted and knitted and watched two episodes of Gilmore Girls which I found pretty pleasant (nice witty writing on that show) and part of a Without A Trace episode which was far too prurient (offscreen "footage" of a woman being raped) for the mellow mood, so we switched around and found another network was showing Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone... which, why would you start showing this at 8 at night? Wouldn't 7PM have been a better choice?

We also had some delicious Chinese food from Mary Chung's.

I got a whole lot added to the chunky ripple afghan, at least as much again as Friday night, and finished the fingers up on Glove 2.2.

* Sunday was planned for media excitement, as I was going up to [livejournal.com profile] rgvdh's with [livejournal.com profile] readaslot and [livejournal.com profile] merrylg, in the latter's brand-spanking-new Prius, for watching anime.

Her Prius? Is one hell of a nice vehicle! I'd go out and order one for myself immediately, if I didn't have a paid-for 11 yo car with 67K on it that I park on the street. sigh Details later, if I can find the time, or anybody cares to ask.

We watched at least two episodes apiece of Escaflowne, Inu-Yasha, Full Metal Alchemist, something girly that I forget the name of, except that it was set at some kind of boarding school, all the characters looked like girls, including the boys/young men, and one of them was called The Rose Bride (ring any bells). And finally, Fruits Basket, which I think I liked the most because it was so totally off the wall, with a young orphan girl getting a job as a live-in housekeeper for a most unusual family.

I crocheted so much that I actually ran out of yarn -- the ripple afghan is now about a yard square. So I switched over and started knitting a sock....

I actually really like Gilmore Girls, it's one of the few shows I currently make any sort of effort to watch on a regular basis. I am not surprised at all that you might find it amusing!

Yay! You're watching anime! Full Metal Alchemist is my newest obsession, and I also love (and have started writing fic for ) Fruits Basket.
