Sometimes, the Alphabet Is Your Secret Ally
Does anybody have the lyrics to the Headstone's "Pretty Little Death Song"? I've managed to put some of the songs on my little (41 song) MP3 player, and the chance alphabetical arrangement segues that song into Cyndi Lauper's "She-Bop" -- which actually is a lot darker than I remembered. Or maybe it's the juxtaposition with the previous song, but thematically, they're both about dark, unavoidable obsessions -- and both are musically, well, dark.
(Funny, I had remembered Lauper as a silly girl singer. And she's obviously more than that.)
I think I'm going to have to build a CD mix around these two songs, sooner or later.
(I got a wonderful ego-boo the other day, because somebody I gave my Jazz & Lounge CD mix told me at length how much she had enjoyed it, and really got into two of the bands on it. ::purrs:: It's so nice to really please somebody, you know?)

Though they're wrong about the opening stanza:
I just penned another pretty
Little death song
Sorry it's another negative piece
Cemetery heart of darkness unsound
One where in it everything in it seethes
The second-to-the last line should be "necrophilia, addiction and insanity"

I wonder if the transcriber heard an earlier version of the song or a live track or something, because aside from having the right number of syllables, that line doesn't much look like a mishearing. Strange!
