hothothot

The rest of the day was OK -- I managed to get O U T in the afternoon after sorting through more old mail than I want to think about (oh yeah and remembering to finally pay off my car insurance for the year when I found that bill!) in order to find the info needed to get my Resident Parking Sticker for Somerville.

And then actually getting over to the town office before it closed, paying my money and showing them the documentation that yes, it was me and my little car. The streets around here are nearly all "Resident Parking" only -- even if it really isn't going to be a problem that non-residents are taking up spaces, it's not like we have a movie theatre or much of anything that would cause a parking problem -- it's just one more way for the city to ding us with stupid tickets.

And it was HOT out, even if the humidity was in the 40s -- I was dripping after I drove a mile and a half to the city office, even with the AC coming up slowly while I drove with all the windows -- and the moon roof -- open.

So now I have my sticker -- the 8th I've added to my side back window, woohoo! When I got back, I took my laptop out in the garden for some composing and sweating bullets -- it was still cooler out there than in the house!

And as I saw, just as the sun was going down past 8, there was a sudden big wind and I could actually feel the temp dropping as cooler winds came in.

Later on, well after I'd gone in, there was a major thunderstorm, and the temp is now down in the blessed 60s.

Somehow I don't think that this is "it" for Summer....

I kept my New York registration sticker on my old Honda until I got rid of it, 11 years after moving out of New York. It was like a souvenir, albeit a really LAME souvenir.

Mitch, good to see you here!

I keep my stickers altogether -- not that my little dented beater isn't proof enough that I'm not Somervillean Yuppie Scum -- as more or less a flag of my allegiance!
