More Carrots
I didn't get a whole lot done today -- watched more of the Hugh Dillon & Headstones videotape, to find after a whole bunch of concert footage with really bad sound and bad lighting there's a really devastating one-on-one interview with Hugh on a show with a 'bynon' bug on the footage, so I'm guessing that's the interviewer's last name. And he talks a whole lot about rehab, why he doesn't want to go on methadone and a radical treatment that includes getting what basically sounds like an Antabuse implant that is good for three months at a time, because then he'll stay off the drugs because he can't argue with it or sweet-talk it or justify to himself why just this once it would be okay to use.
And it was just so sad, because clearly, he's more than lightly motivated to quit and taking it as seriously as you could want, and still screwing up on a regular basis.
I'll try to steer away from sermonette territory here, and only say that treating addiction isn't as simple as telling people that drugs are bad and they should say no. Clearly Dillon is onboard the bus with those two tenets and it still isn't enough to get him by.
I promise this will probably be my last Hugh post for a couple of days! I watched my first episode of My Life as a Dog tonight, so maybe I'll be able to make a shift into happiness and puppies for a while....
