Imaginary Memes

From [livejournal.com profile] imkalena (last place I saw this one, anyway):

Invent a memory of me and post it in the comments. It can be anything you want, so long as it's something that's never happened. Then, of course, post this to your journal and see what people would like to remember of you, only the universe failed to cooperate in making it happen so they had to make it up instead.

Am I the only person who giggles every time she sees this meme, because it makes her think of all the dirty stories people could make up? Dude, you could be having sex with *everybody*, and you didn't even know it! :-D

You were so happy when you got dozens of wonderful fb notes thanking you for the BodySwap story! And one woman was so amazed by it that she begged to bear your children. That was me, remember?

Oh, was I supposed to write something that is *not going* to happen? :)

I remember the day we spent in British Columbia, prowling around the Smallville set. We could have gotten arrested, but it was worth it to see Callum Keith Rennie slinking out of Michael Rosenbaum's trailer looking like the cat who ate the canary...

That was you two? It must have been before we met -- do you remember a bit of a brouhaha at the food services tent? That was me being arrested for picketing because of the fat content of the donuts!

Definitely that day when we bumped into half the cast of Firefly and Farscapein the bar and we all wound up downing Tequila slammers and telling embarrassing stories, most of which, thank heavens, I've actually forgotten by now. (Although Adam Baldwin's story about the misunderstanding over nun and the lobster made me laugh so hard I nearly wet myself.) The best bit, of course, being the fact that they were shooting both their movies at the time.

(I shall remain magnificently tactful about who you went off with at the end of the evening.)

The last place I ever expected I'd see you was on the street where I work.

Later, when we'd settled in at the Fireside and had our share of martinis, you told me that the dueSouth reunion movie was being filmed in Halifax and it all made sense.

We were just drunk enough to sneak onto their location shot and insert ourselves into a crowd scene. I really hope that we don't end up on the cutting room floor, but we couldn't stop giggling.

Then I told you that Paul Gross reminds me very strongly of one of my uncles, and thus I have a wonderful, though sadly non-lusty, mental relationship with him.

No, you can't meet my uncle. I keep telling you he's married.

My favorite non-memory of you...

Remember that day I came to your house and you showed me the sequel to Kid Dynamo you were working on? Then we watched Firefly DVDs and after that we went out to dinner and we met two guys who looked just like Mal and Jayne, and well, as they say, wackiness ensued.

That was so much fun!!! We must do it again soon.

I shall never forget the way that you depressed George W. Bush's pretensions. There we were at the bar in Boskone, having a civilized conversation, when this drunken fratboy leaned in and said "Where did all you weirdoes COME from, and why don't you go back there?"

You raised one eyebrow and said "Believe me, we're working on it." Then you turned your back on him and returned to the conversation.

There was that time we went skating at South Mountain Arena, and then stopped in at that diner on Rt. 10 for Taylor ham sandwiches and hot chocolate.

For the next book in the series, do yourself a favor and use one of the pictures I took of you in Sweden. The one Annie Liebowitz took for the book jacket just doesn't capture you.

I remember when [livejournal.com profile] lnhammer and I ran into you in London, neither of us having any idea the other was going to be there.

The fact that we didn't realize until we got to the airport that we'd both planned three-day layovers in Reykjavik made it all the funnier. It was cool, getting to visit the puffins together.

Remember when we kicked the collective asses of the Cutter rink, just the two of us? And Chris demonstrated "something about vibrators"? The way Lennox's hair stood on end when it shorted out. Hee!

I remember when you were convinced that inanimate objects were talking to you.

I didn't buy it at first, but when you bet all our money on "Somebody's Baby" in the third race and cashed in on 19-1 odds? I began to believe...

I know we're both thinking about the same thing. I forgive you but let's not speak of it again.

Remember the afternoon we spent walking all over San Francisco, wandering whereever we felt like going. We ended the day at that great Italian cafe, drinking wine and pouring over the great used books we found at that little hole in the wall used book store.

After standing in line at the bookstore for a full hour, I finally get my turn at the table so that you can sign my copies of your new novel. I didn't warn you in advance that I was coming, of course, and so your face lit up with surprise and you stood up and leaned over the table to give a hug to your ol' college roommate who got you published in the Daily Free Press!

[identity profile] mira-jane.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 06:18 am (UTC)(link)

it was great to meet you at your book signing.

Has to be the time -- let's see, four years ago this summer -- when you somehow landed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival on one of your business trips on the same weekend I was there with my college alumni group. (What was the sales department thinking? And how can we get them to do it again?)

Anyhow, it worked out that we both saw the same performance of Henry V, and I invited you to sit in on our group's discussion afterward -- where you impressed the hell out of the actor playing Henry (a fellow alum) with that really good question about the fight choreography.
