I caught Yum Yum downstairs again! This time she was contentedly perching on the back of the sofa, though she got nervous when I approached. So I'd say the experiment with Chumley down at my Mom's is working quite well!
Of course the next two days may be a bit fraught for Miss Yum Yum -- my friend Merryl has to go out of town for two days, and her cat Piemur needs pilling twice a day, so I'm going to keep him here for her. Piemur has stayed with us before, though it was maybe five years ago. If worst comes to worst, Yum Yum can stay up here in the study again if she gets freaked, but perhaps her objections really are only to poor lovelorn Chumley, so we'll see.
Of course, I didn't help matters by falling asleep when I got home, which means Merryl called several times, trying to coordinate dropping him off -- but she's on the way now, so all should be well enough!
