No Joy In Sporkville

No time to discuss the slashers and gay-porn-watching, as I have to run to dinner, but I will get back to that I promise! I just want to record that my really incredibly neat spork pin broke in two... but at least it was while I was curling, so at least it's an honorable way for a solitary spork to give up its life.

I got some pictures of the curling action, but they'll have to wait until I have a steadier Internet connection to post them... promise!

And now to dinner....

Okay, now I'm curious: What's with the spork thing? Because I, too, happen to own a spork necklace, but that was from an MBTV Buffycon, which I'm positive is not where you're coming from.

It's a #discourse (and occasional Buffista joke) about badfic being so awful, you'll have to plunge sporks into your eyes rather than go on reading it. Sporks being so undignified, and also hard to get, so the actually threat of auto-spork-eye-plunging being suitably unlikely yet humorous. I hope....

Curling? Do you mean curling your hair, or curling as in the Olympic sport? :-)

Yep, sport-type curling. The gang I'm with is all Due South fans (thus the Canadian appurtenances), and most of us have also seen Paul Gross's funny movie Men With Brooms which is a sports-comedy-type movie about curling. Strangely it was a big hit in Canada but not so much here. (Except maybe Minnesota....)

Got it now -- thanks! My reaction to seeing the curling in the 2002 Winter Olympics was, "Wow, that actually looks like a sport that I might not be too old to do!" And I did some Googling at the time and found that there is a curling club in Laurel (one of the suburbs between DC and Baltimore -- Laurel is where George Wallace was shot in 1972). Alas, the lure of the ski slopes won out ... that and the fact that I feel more comfortable on snow than on ice.... :-P

Indeed, that club is where they went curling, because [livejournal.com profile] datlowen, [livejournal.com profile] jgesteve, [livejournal.com profile] darthrami and [livejournal.com profile] darthfox curl.

I broke my arm there. :)
