Validated!
My email was having trouble last night, so I didn't get my validation email from LJ until this morning.
What's weird is that I'm really here for 'validation' in the first place. About a thousand years ago (fannish time) I wrote a very long and involved New Mutants novel called Kid Dynamo, which got posted on rec.art.comics and was one of the earlier fanfic novels running around on the Internet. I've always felt a little guilty because at first description, the plot really sounds like a Mary Sue, since the story has a young female viewpoint protagonist, who not only has a lot of mutant power but runs around getting into more trouble with her teammates and Magneto? (See what I mean about the Mary Sue-ish aspects?)
So I'm reading along last night, and there's a really great article about defining the Mary Sue, and what qualifies as one, and what doesn't -- and my story is singled out as an example of one that doesn't! (And somebody else agrees with her). I'd link it here, but I haven't figured out how to link just yet. Just getting this entry into my journal is enough for now!

Hum. Nothing else to say just now.

Congratulations on the mention of the article, and for creating a non-Mary Sue.

Too cool about the article. If you want to link it's: text here (And now watch that not work because of a typo or some equally idiotic mistake.)
