Rainbows over San Francisco
I'm currently in debg's house, taking a few minutes to update here!
Aside from some lateness in boarding (and subsequent lateness in arriving), the trip across the country was pretty much boring. I read about 400 pages of _Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix_ (which I hadn't gotten around to before this -- was waiting for a long, boring trip, in fact) played with my computer, watched part of a _Firefly_ episode before my laptop ran out of juice, and tried to ignore the nasty sinus headache that was trying to get out of my head.
But then I was met at the gate by sfmarty (deb's m-in-law, whom I've known from GEnie these many years) and we took the truly scenic coast route up to SF proper, stopping so that I could admire the waves and try to get some of the cloud action recorded by my camera. And we went by the Sutro Baths (which are ruins, actually) to admire more coast. There were storm clouds coming and going, we got rained on a couple times -- and when we turned inland, to get to Deb and Nic's, there was an =amazing= double rainbow, probably the best, most well-defined one I have ever seen. I could really pick out the color bands in the main bow, and just off the starboard side there was a second bow, this one with the spectrum colors reversed! I mean, I've heard about this, but never actually seen it!
Thus, we came to Chez Grabien, of which I have seen some pictures, but never really got the full idea of how it's this marvelous Victorian house set back from street so there's an excellent private yard (surrounded by apartment buildings). It's so damn cool, and being that it's Deb & Nic's, stuffed to the brim with interesting Stuff, and of course, all this Victorian =detail= which I absolutely love to death.
And cats -- it's like Planet of the Cats in here, most of which are very Social. :-) Not complaining!
Well, I just wanted to do a quick update! Tomorrow I've got some free time, though I've got to get to the hotel by 3 PM to report for Duty. And then I'll start posting out of sheer boredom....
